Ask a Bel Marra owner where they ate last Saturday and you will get two very different answers depending on whether they took the car or the boat. The car answer is predictable, a short list along Palmetto Park or Atlantic Avenue. The boat answer has quietly gotten more interesting this year, and most of the reason is that Lake Boca is now a two-restaurant destination instead of one.
That is the shift worth understanding if your dock is your front door.
Why Lake Boca Reads Differently in Summer 2026
For years, the honest boat-up conversation in Boca came down to a single sentence. SeaSpray Inlet Grill at the Waterstone Resort & Marina was, per OpenTable's own listing, the only restaurant in Boca Raton where the public could dock a boat and dine. That was it. If you wanted a proper meal without leaving the water, you either tied up at SeaSpray or you cruised out of town.
Kasumi opened at the same Waterstone property in October 2024, but for its first year it read as a dinner-only sushi room with a great view. The April 14, 2026 relaunch changed the posture. Under new Executive Chef Toyoji Hemmi, Kasumi rolled out a refreshed menu and a spring cocktail program, extended service to Monday through Sunday from 5 to 11 p.m., added a Monday-through-Friday happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m., and started marketing a "Dock & Dine" program directly on its own site with a promise that your table will be waiting when you arrive by water.
Two restaurants on Lake Boca, one casual and outdoor, one elevated and reservation-driven, both accepting boats. From Bel Marra's canals that is roughly a ten-minute idle south through the Intracoastal to the entrance of Boca Inlet, which is exactly where the Waterstone marina sits.

Distances here are approximate and assume idle-speed manatee zones, which is most of what you will actually be driving through.
Ten minutes south — SeaSpray Inlet Grill
The default. All outdoor seating, casual all-day menu, full bar, breakfast from 7:30 a.m., lunch from 11:30, dinner service running to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Happy hour Monday through Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. is the underused window. You beat the sandbar crowd home, the light is still good, and the wind that OpenTable reviewers politely warn about tends to settle before sunset.
Best used for: a spontaneous lunch, a boat full of kids, or the second stop after a swim at the sandbar.
Ten minutes south — Kasumi
Same marina, different night. Kasumi seats more than 150 across a bar, dining room, and waterfront terrace overlooking Lake Boca, with a private dining room for up to 16. Chef Hemmi's stated approach is traditional technique against South Florida seasonality, with nigiri and sashimi anchored by shio koji sea bass, obanzai garden vegetables, and chicken toban taki carried over from the opening menu. The spring cocktail list added the Any Hour Margarita with Santoro Tequila, the Golden Hour Spritz with Aperol and Angelica Botanical, and the Spring Spirit with 86 Degrees Gin, mango, cucumber and mint.
The Dock & Dine language matters. Kasumi is the only fine-dining room in Boca actively soliciting boat arrivals, which means calling ahead and telling them you are coming by water is not a novelty request. The address is 999 East Camino Real if you want to send it to a guest's captain.
Best used for: a Friday sunset, a two-couple dinner where one couple came by car, or a happy hour that turns into dinner because the light on the terrace is doing its thing.
Twenty-plus minutes north — Deck 84
Head the other direction and Deck 84 is the honest answer in Delray. Gulf Stream Boat Club describes it plainly as a stylish American spot on the Intracoastal with a hopping bar, weekend brunch, and outdoor seats. Weekend brunch is the move here rather than dinner, because the run back south to Bel Marra in the dark through Delray's bridge openings is a longer evening than most people plan for.
Best used for: a Sunday brunch cruise, or the halfway point of a longer up-and-back day.
Twenty-plus minutes south — The Cove Waterfront Restaurant & Tiki Bar
Down through the Hillsboro stretch into Deerfield, The Cove is the casual counterweight to Kasumi. Dock right at the restaurant, order a seafood basket or a burger, keep the flip-flops on, catch whatever live music happens to be running that afternoon. It is the closest thing to a proper tiki-bar experience within a reasonable one-way cruise.
Best used for: a boat full of visiting friends who want the postcard version of a South Florida afternoon.
A longer run north — Prime Catch
If you are willing to commit to a real day on the water, Prime Catch sits tucked next to the Woolbright Bridge in Boynton and has been on the Intracoastal for more than a decade. Dress code is business casual, no tank tops for men, and the wine list has picked up Wine Spectator recognition. Dogs on leashes are welcome on the floor, which is a small thing that matters if the retriever comes on every boat day.
Best used for: an anniversary lunch, or the destination on a day when you actually want the boat to feel like transportation.
Two Calendar Notes That Change the Math
The sandbar itself is a separate calculation. Boatzon's 2026 sandbar ranking pegs typical summer weekends at 200 to 300 boats around the Lake Boca sandbar, and it sits close enough to the Waterstone docks that both restaurants absorb its energy on a Saturday afternoon. Whether that is a feature or a bug depends on the guest list.
Two dates deserve their own thought.
The last Sunday in April is Boca Bash. GetMyBoat's 2026 Boca charter guide calls it the large, unsanctioned sandbar party on Lake Boca, and it is the one weekend of the year where the calculus flips. Boats fill the anchorage, the police and FWC step up patrols and safety inspections, and Waterstone becomes functionally unreachable by water. If you are hosting that weekend, the boat-up plan is not a plan.
The other note is weather. June through September is the hotter, wetter half of the year and sits inside Atlantic hurricane season, which in practice means afternoon storm cells that build fast off the Everglades and roll east. The workable pattern in summer is a late-morning departure, a lunch table locked in for 12:30 or 1, and back to the dock by 3:30. Kasumi's 5 p.m. opening is genuinely useful here because a happy-hour arrival lets you leave the sandbar before the storms and be seated before the sky changes.
What This Actually Means for the Dock
A Bel Marra dock is not a lifestyle amenity in the abstract. It is a piece of infrastructure whose value depends on what it connects you to, and this year it connects you to more than it did last summer. That is a small, specific change. It is also the kind of thing that does not show up in a listing description or a median price.
